女性影像的觀看與詮釋-談符號學對視覺藝術教育的應用與啟示

隨著時代更替,視覺影像成為社會表象的主脈,視覺影像的解讀成為藝術教育新興的成分,因此引導學生觀看、詮釋、分析、思考所見的視覺影像,與隱藏其中的意識形態,亦是當今視覺藝術教育重要職責。而符號學強調研究符徵、符旨所組成的符號,以及探究隱藏在符號之後的文化脈絡與意義,提供解讀影像的概念與策略。本文以符號學的觀點,運用文本分析的方式解讀廣告和藝術品中女性影像的意涵,分三個層次描述影像中可見的基本元素、符號的象徵意義及其中的意識形態。研究發現,無論是廣告或藝術品皆可能納入特定的敘事以及此敘事背後的權力運作。視覺藝術的學習可教導學生檢視日常生活中各類影像,分析其中的文化脈絡,以及藉由影像所傳達各種不平等勢力,促進觀者於實踐的場域自我賦權。

英文摘要

As the generation progresses, visualization became the mainstream of social repres-entatives; the interpretation of visual images has become an integrating part of the foundation of art education. Semiology is mainly focused on the study of sign's composition of signifier, signified and the cultural context that deeply hidden underneath signs that provided concepts and strategies to interpret visual images. Therefore, leading students to observe, interpret, analyze, and think about what they saw or the ideology that it implies becomes very crucial to visual art education. According to the viewpoint of semi-ology, this essay included examples from advertisements and art works. By analyzing the texts of female images to recode the unequal hegemony, three different levels of analysis image, including describing visual elements, meaning of symbol and ideology of signs. According to the studies, the images of advertisement and artwork we saw are possible to be used to a certain narrative and its authority. As we can see, the visual art education is able to teach students to inspect any image from our daily lives to analyze the cultural context and any unequal powers that spread from images, and to promote observers' practices and self-empowerment.
