英文摘要
It is no doubt that rituals have the function of social integration and
national education. In addition to the shrine rituals, the academic has noticed
about official festivals and ceremonies, royal family greeting activities,
statues establishment, the Governor visiting local activities during Japanese
Colonial Period, but the activities of seeing off and greeting Taiwan
Governors are less touched, so that it is worthy exploring.
In addition to the activity of seeing off and greeting Taiwan
Governor, a number of activities associated with the former, such as statues
establishment, ceremonial and festival activities and showy Banquets, etc.
are also worthy studying. What are the real functions of these activities?
After the imperial examination system was abolished, the Taiwanese
promotion road has been cut off. There was not a formal official career
like imperial examination system on Qing Dynasty in general before 1921
years, and there was no Taiwanese appointed as high officials until 1925.
Furthermore, its number was not only very few, but also their jobs and
promotion were pretty limited. So, I try to ask: where Taiwanese formal
official career were under such an unfair social structure during Japanese
Colonial Period, especially from 1895 to 1925 years. From this study, I find
the Taiwanese role in ritual seems to be more able to play and have some
associations with the promotion. Many researchers always think that Gu
Xianrong can be described as “a leading goat” to advocate policy during
Japanese Colonial Period. This is solid indisputable but lack of actual
examples. The ritual role in this study may be used as an example.
