Integrating cultural innovation into local and community development is crucial for sustainable growth. The purpose of this study is to explore how integrating design anthropology with the Sharestart teaching method can strengthen community empowerment and support localized cultural sustainability by encouraging young people to return to their hometowns, supporting community growth, and preserving cultural heritage. The study focuses on fostering social responsibility, community cooperation, and cultural initiatives in higher education in Taiwan, aiming to create a sustainable community empowerment model. The study involved the development and implementation of a community empowerment model based on design anthropology and the Sharestart method. A total of 100 participants were evaluated through questionnaires and interviews to assess their satisfaction with the teaching approach and their learning outcomes. The results indicated high levels of satisfaction with the instructor’s effectiveness and positive learning outcomes. Participants reported enhanced knowledge acquisition, improved problem-solving skills, and increased interest in learning. Furthermore, the study showed that participants developed a greater awareness of life care and strengthened their ability to apply cross-domain knowledge. However, some areas for improvement were identified based on feedback. This study presents a novel approach by integrating design anthropology with the Sharestart teaching method to address the challenges of community development and cultural preservation in Taiwan. The research offers a fresh perspective on how higher education can align with future trends, and strengthen community engagement through social networking. It contributes to the field of education by promoting sustainable growth and cultural innovation in both local and community contexts.
