本文目的在研究電視單元劇所呈現的戲劇符碼真實性與社會之間的關連。 本文以內容分析法分析了中華民國八十二年第二季三臺電視播出的十種共一百一十九集單元劇。蒐集之資料以單因子變異數分析方法檢查各劇集之問各電視符碼真實性之差異。分析之結果並以考克藍氏c值與薛非氏方法分別檢驗。 在將全數樣本依不同時空及情節分組做比較時，發現家庭朋友類、法警類、及歷史類三種單元劇在表現人物、情節選取、具現環境訊息方面，均有顯著的真實性差異，顯示這三類型單元劇具有展現不同社會現象的功能。 由電視單元劇中「選擇表現行為」看出，「我們這一班」和「愛的進行式」比其他單元戲劇在表現人物與情節上最具備節目與社會之間相互關連之功能，而「中國民間故事」、「阿公講古」等歷史類單元戲劇較其他單元劇在人物表現與情節選擇上最缺乏聯繫解釋或與社會之相互關連功能。 綜合來看，法警類單元劇在各項環境訊息指標上都最不具真實性，因此極有可能此類單元劇是三種類型單元劇中，最不具傳遞聯繫與解釋社會之功能，也不能在節目中顯現戲劇傳達真實社會符號之意義。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlative social functions between drama series and Taiwan's society as represented in commercial television communication systems. Content analysis was used in the study to explore the research question. A total of 119 episodes broadcasted in the second season of 1993 on the three commercial channels were sampled to reveal how reality was proprayed through TV's represational codes. According to the series' period, location, and plot type, the 119 episodes were catagoried in three different genres: historical, family, and law. By using one-way analysis of variance and Schefee's test, it was found that each different genre had its distinct and significant correlational social functions.
