This study explores the impact of the digital humanities game “The Golden Silk Road” on students’ cultural awareness and aesthetic appreciation literacy. As digital technology and gaming gradually integrate into education, “The Golden Silk Road” combines augmented reality (AR) technology, allowing students to experience the historical culture of the Silk Road through role-playing. The game design aims to enhance students' learning motivation and collaborative awareness while promoting cultural understanding and aesthetic appreciation literacy. The research targets sixth-grade students from a certain elementary school in Taiwan, including those from both regular and art classes, conducting pre- and post-test comparisons and surveys. The results indicate that the game effectively improved students' cultural awareness, with significant progress observed in both regular and art class students. Furthermore, although changes in aesthetic appreciation literacy did not reach significant differences, the results suggest that the game still has a potentially positive impact on students' aesthetic cultivation. Students showed positive reactions towards the game design, interactivity, and AR technology. "The Golden Silk Road" demonstrates the potential of combining digital games with cultural education and promotes interdisciplinary learning among students, providing new directions and possibilities for future educational innovations.
