中文摘要
The Silent Language（1959）及Beyond Culture（1976）兩部當年的暢銷書，闡述Hall 多年來人類學家的觀察，以及對於文化內容與涵義的觀察與見解。在50 與60 年代，許多我們今日已知悉的概念，諸如：文化、脈絡（context）、歷時（polychromic）與共時（monochromic）時間系統等，以及現今跨國研究中，常被引用為區辨文化或已然成為文化類別的高／低脈絡文化（high/low context cultures），對於當時的普羅大眾都還是陌生的概念。
