2012 年的臺灣，大環境是艱難的。外有歐債危機及美國財政懸崖問題，影響出口；內有油電雙漲帶動物價飛漲、宣布開徵證所稅等不利因素，以致主計總處九度下修全年經濟成長率，只剩1.2%。加上臺灣產業久未轉型導致薪資結構不增反減，民眾縮衣節食，咸認2012 是辛苦的一年。
