蘇軾〈水調歌頭〉(明月幾時有)是膾炙人口的名篇,是中秋詞中的絕唱,詞人多效其語,蘇軾本人對此詞亦極得意。千百年來,〈水調歌頭〉流播久遠,深入人心,「高處不勝寒」甚至已成為現代人的口頭語。可是,此詞的主旨卻是大陸詞學界爭議不休的一個焦點,仁者見仁,智者見智,莫衷一是,為蘇軾詞研究的四大論爭之一。本文不避冗雜,用具體的文史資料闡說考論,以便對其寫作背景、言外之意與相關情事作出一個較明確可信的詮釋。蘇軾之〈水調歌頭〉雖眾說紛紜,莫衷一是,然經由本文之舉證與解說,可獲得明確可信的理解。宋神宗熙寧九年中秋夜,蘇軾在密州超然臺把酒問月,望月思君 以明月比擬宋神宗,希望他至明至察,不要被小人所蔽,不要被浮雲所翳,早日摒棄新政,激濁揚清,舉善彈違,解民倒懸,成為一個皎如皓月、明燭幽微的明君。蘇軾在把酒問月之後,緊接著,又以天上宮闕、瓊數玉宇象徵朝廷宮闕,以乘風飛月象徵企粉歸返朝廷。關於這一點,無論從從倅杭時的企粉歸朝之心,或是從蘇軾在密州的積極治事與急切用世之心都可以得到印證。此時,蘇軾密州即將任滿,他企盼乘新黨內鬨勢衰之時歸返朝廷;可是,在另一方面,昔日被新黨誣陷迫害的慘痛經驗又浮上心頭,朝中寒冷肅殺的政治氣候讓他不寒而慄,憂心不已!所以,蘇軾頗以高危自警,以欲飛還斂、欲去還留象徵企盼歸朝的心願與憂思。最後他以理化情,極力克制乘風飛奔天上宮闕、瓊樓玉宇之思,而退一步自我寬慰:歸朝任職,雖較能有所作為,但卻也容易成為眾矢之的,反而不如眼前在外守郡來得好!此時,整個政局有了重大的變化,被迫離開中央朝廷已近七年的蘇轍見情勢大有可為,準備上書神宗,自齊州進京言事。蘇轍此次上書,指斥乘輿,譏刺朝政,對宋神宗及新黨、新政提出全面性的抨擊。蘇軾雖為自己歸朝有望,開懷痛飲,可是在另一方面,他卻又暗暗替蘇轍的禍福安危擔憂,難以入眠!〈水調歌頭〉詞序雖云:「歡飲達旦」,但在觀樂的背後,蘇軾實有所隱憂。倘若我們不曾深入分析當時政治情勢的變化,不曾深入體會蘇軾內心的情感,很容易就會被「歡飲達旦」的字眼所矇蔽,而忽略了蘇軾隱藏在歡樂背後的憂思。
Su-shi’s Shui Tiao Ko Tou (Will a moon so bright ever arise again?) is a famous poem which wins universal praise. It is the absolute poetry in the Mid-Autumn Festival. Many poets imitate the phrases Su uses, and Su is also quite proud of this poem. Hundreds years pass; Shui Tiao Ko Tou is spread and win many people’s heart. Even the line “lets in the cold, its palaces rears so high” has become a platitude of people nowadays. However, the main point of this poem is a disputation in the poetry domain in Mainland China. The point is explained by different people with different views-either one is correct, and this is one of the four disputations while studying Su-shi’s poetry.
