約出生於清道咸年間的黃元吉，其內丹之學雖受現代仙學大師陳攖寧的推崇，然而目前不但道教學界少有黃元吉的相關研究，甚至常將元代淨明忠孝道的黃元吉與之混為一談。以此之故，本文首先乃從黃元吉現有著作的序跋以及《樂育堂語錄》內文中，所提供的一些線索，來對其生平大略加以考辨。其次以黃元吉所講述的《樂育堂語錄》為主，分別從理論與實踐兩方面，探討其身心性命超越之學的思想內涵。其中於理論原則的部分，是從中國傳統文化思維的角度切入；於實踐過程的部分，則區分少陽與文始兩派功法的步驟加以說明。

Huang Yuan-chi was born approximately in Daoguang (1821-1850) or Sianfeng (1851-1861) period of Qing dynasty. Even though Chen Ying-ning, a contemporary Neidan master, highly praised his teachings, there has been relatively little research about Huang Yuan-chi done by the academic circle at present. And surprisingly, many scholars of Taoism often mix him up with someone else, also named Huang Yuan-chi (1270-1324), a follower of Ching-ming chung-hsiao Tao (The Loyal and Filial Way of the Pure and Perspicacious) during Yuan dynasty. Therefore, this research starts on a thorough investigation into the prefaces and postscripts--either by the author himself or other people--in the existing works of Huang Yuan-chi as well as the context of Le-yu-tang Yu-lu in the hope of knowing more about his life story. Secondly, to probe into the Naidan connotation of Huang Yuan-chi, this research focuses on the text of Le-yu-tang Yu-lu from the aspect of theory on the one hand and from the aspect of practice on the other. The research goes straight into the theory side from the perspective of traditional Chinese-cultural way of thinking. As for the practice side, it goes on to detail the procedure for distinguishing between the Shaoyang school and the Wunshih school.
