言孔子政治思想者多矣。當代學人一般都志在探究其與當代民主的關聯性，然後論斷其利害得失。本文則先把焦點單純擺在孔子思想的本身，而且只以《論語》為對象，用意除了在於完整釐清《論語》政治思想的意涵之外，也希望能平實可信地呈現孔子政治思想的面貌，多少傳達孔子思想「道不遠人」的信息。

Under the wave of the western democratic thought, most people would think that political thought of Confucius is outdated and even dead. But before making any judgment, it would be better returning to Confucius himself, to understand what he had really said. This paper tries to lay out the core ideas about how to govern a country well in the “Analects”. It divides four parts: the basics（基礎）、duty and responsibility（責任）、trust and righteous（信義）and respect the man of good and worth（尚賢）. What I concern here is not to discuss the connections between the ancient Confucius and modern democracy, but to make an honest and trustable analysis on the political thought of Confucius.
