The Fifth Takasago Voluntary Corps of Taiwan: Roster, Military Postal Savings, and Japanese Testimonies is compiled by Japanese documentary author Hayashi Eidai, and contains the complete roster of the Fifth Takasago Voluntary Corps, information on the postal reserve, and oral interviews with Japanese commanders. The roster contains a complete record of the 5th Takasago Volunteer Group's recruits, casualties, and disappearances, as well as personal information such as residence addresses and relatives. It is one of the few records of the Takasago Volunteers left intact after World War II and is of great importance to the study of the Takasago Volunteers. This paper attempts to compile the register of the Takao state, categorize it into clans and tribes, and compare these data with the "Survey of the Takasago Clan" and the "Account of Takasago tribes", while making reference to the "Testimonies" section of this book and interviewing some of the bereaved families in an attempt to analyze the recruitment of the Takasago Volunteers in Taiwan during the Japanese colonization period. This paper is to help the bereaved families of the Takasago Volunteers to rebuild their memories of their deceased family members, so that the flood of history will not bury the tribal warriors who sacrificed their lives back then.
