上博五《季庚子問於孔子》的「因邦之所臤(賢)而 (興)之」，舊說都 解釋為「依據邦人所稱道的賢人而舉用他」，本文以為這種解釋與全篇的上下文 不能密合，變成很奇怪的一句話。從上下文義來看，這一句話應該讀為「因邦之 所臤(譴)而 (繩)之」，意思是:「依據邦人所譴責的壞人而法辦他」。〈季庚 子問於孔子〉的全文就更合理通暢了。

There is a phrase “ 因邦之所臤而 之 ” in Ji Gengzi’s question to Confucius in Shangbo V. The old saying is interpreted as “to appoint him as the people praised him as a wiseman”. This article thinks that this kind of explanation does not fit in with the context of the whole text, and it becomes a very strange phrase. From the perspective of context, this phrase should be read as “to sentence him as the people condemned him as a bad person”. In this way, the full text of Ji Gengzi’s question to Confucius is more reasonable and smooth.
