古漢語中「坐甲」之意歷來有學者做過討論，有穿著鎧甲，或穿著鎧甲坐 地，或堆疊鎧甲之意等說法。除綜合諸家之說，細究辯證，從古文字的考證、 出土文獻的比對及傳世典籍的整理等方面，予以對比分析。「坐甲」之意在先秦 典籍中應為「士卒屈膝著地，壓低身體，準備作戰的姿勢」。在中古文獻中則引 申指「作戰時不論守備或進攻的周全準備」。
