The Bamboo Slips from the Western Han Dynasty Collected by Peking University (Volume IV) contains a chapter named “Wang Ji” which records some words about cosmetic items used by beauty Yu Shi. This part doesn’t make sense for a long time as a result of unclear explaination of cosmetic items. On the basis of former scholars’ researches, we will reinterpret those crucial words combining materials from archaeological excavation and historical documents about explaination of Chinese characters. The key points are “ Key words: The Western Han Dynasty Collected by Peking University, “Wang Ji”, cosmetic items, nouns 294 二○二○年夏季號 蔚” from “鑑蔚粉墨” and “ (蘩)澤” from “ 澤 在則(側)”. We think “蔚” is equel to the “ ” which represents gloves. ” ” is a kind of well-made cosmetic item, but it doesn’t belong to commen clothes. “ (蘩) 澤” should be two kinds of perfumes which called Xiang Hao and Ze Lan respectively. The expression “ (蘩)澤在則(側)” is coincident with “側載臭(〈㚖〉— 澤)茝” “側載睪(澤)芷” from classics Historical Records and Xun Zi.
