美國紐約市摩根圖書館藏西周早期〈伯矩卣〉，形制花紋與《西清古鑑》 (Xi Qing Gu Chien)16.4著錄〈周伯矩卣〉極為相似，然《西清》銘文之描 摹，無論字形、行款及字距，皆與摩根藏器有出入。作者經目驗原器後，確認 即《西清古鑑》16.4著錄〈周伯矩卣〉。文中援引臺北故宮藏器與《西清》著錄 對比為例，亦有描摹錯漏現像。當日《四鑑》編纂，由清宮中良工據實物描繪 臨摹，極具學術參考價值，惜乎摹手大多缺乏金文基本訓練，釋文及摹寫，舛 誤頻出，至為可惜。故學者引用《四鑑》，必須多方比較驗證。 本文為「清宮舊藏青銅器研究」(“Research On Qing Emperor Bronze Collection Catalogue”)賸稿之一。附論:「《西清四鑑》編纂及摹手資料(初 稿)」，僅就目前所知，提供讀者參考。

The Boju you, a Western Zhou bronze vessel in the Morgan Library’s collections, is similar in shape and ornaments with the bronze vessel named Zhou boju you in the Xi Qing gujian. Nonetheless, there is a certain extent of variations between the two vessels in terms of the inscriptional shapes, styles, and layouts. By examining the bronze object in person, the author of the present study validates the vessel of the Morgan Library’s collections as the original piece of the Xiqing’s. For argumentation, the study further cites comparative examples from the Taipei Palace Museum’s collections to manifest various deficiencies shown in the hand copies of the Xiqing. Although the drawings of the Sijian are significant academically as they were mostly commissioned by the excellent artisans in the palace according to the original artifacts, the compilation work of the book was largely replied on the scribes who were not very experienced in bronze inscriptions. This regrettably resulted in the prevalent defects that exist in the transcriptions of the books. Therefore, this study draws researchers’ attention to the importance of verifying the inscriptional sources prior to making citations from the Sijian. This article, an output of the research project “Research of the Bronze Collections of the Qing Palace,” is concluded with a remark in connection with the compilation and facsimile information of Xi Qing gujian for readers’ reference.
