The term of Oracle-bone inscription has changed over time since the excavation of the Oracle bone. Those two words “Oracle bone" and "Scripts” linking together initially found in an article The Progress of Classical Chinese in the Last Twenty Years which was wrote by Kang Fu, published in the Oriental Magazine issue 19 No.3 in February, 1922. The term “Oracle-bone inscription”, which is nowadays used commonly by national scholars, was employed firstly by Lu Maode, who published his essay The History and Value of Oracle-bone Inscription in Tsinghua Weekly Issue No.299 in 1923. As the research of Oracle-bone inscription has gradually become a specialized discipline, the earliest scholar applying the term “study of oracle” was Wen You, publishing an article The Past and Future of Study of Oracle in MinDuo Magzine issue 9 No.5 in 1928.
