本文以中國當代詩歌裡的都市圖象為研究範疇，先定義了都市的範圍，區隔了都市與城市的概念，再透過不同時代的中國詩人對「京滬圖象」之建構，來探討都市作為一個詩歌創作主題的意義，以及最具價值的詮釋向度。為了避免陷入永無止境的都市詩泛論，這項研究鎖定以「現代都市──上海」和「千古帝都──北京」為題的都市詩，前者見證了中國百年來的消費文化的興衰，後者則是八百年政治與傳統文化的沉積，分別代表中國都市發展的兩條路線。書寫其餘城市的詩篇，以及無法辨識位址的城市詩作，不納入正式的討論。本文試圖借用文化地理學的「地方」概念，以及都市學的觀點，在眾多廣義和狹義的都市寫作中，尋找（或重建）這兩個「有故事的地方」，進而確立都市詩寫作在中國當代詩歌史的重要性。

This article will define the scope of the concept of “urban” based on the urban image built in contemporary Chinese poetry within the study areas in order to firstly differentiate the concepts of “ urban” and “the city”, and secondly to explore the sense of taking “urban” as a theme for poetry as well as the most valuable dimensions of interpretation through “Beijing & Shanghai images” created by Chinese poets in different eras. To avoid falling into a never-ending discussion on pan-urban poetry, this research will only study the urban poetries themed as “Shanghai - the modern urban” and “Beijing - the eternal empire”, in which the former has witnessed the rise and fall of consumer culture in China in the past century, whereas the latter is 800-year deposition of political & traditional culture. Both poetic themes represent the two routes of urban development of China. Poetries with other cities as the main writing subject and without a recognizable address will not be included in this discussion. This article attempts to borrow the “place” concept of cultural geography as well as the point of view of urban science to locate (or reconstruct) the aforementioned two “places with stories”, and thereby to establish the importance of the writings of urban poetry’s in the history of contemporary Chinese poetry writings.
