Ethyl c-naphthocoumarin-a-carboxylate is an important fluorescent agent. Three new products have been synthesized by nitration of this compound. They are ethyl 5-nitro-β-naphthocoumarin-α-carboxylate, ethyl 6-nitro-β-naphthocoumarin-α-carboxylate and ethyl 5, 7-dinitro-β-naphthocoumarin-α-carboxylate.
