地名有廣狹之分，廣義者指涉範圍廣闊，下轄諸多城邑及居民點，其中包括狹義定義之同名地名。《左傳》十處綴以「隧」字地名皆在一國「鄙」、「野」地區，本文認為《左傳》所載「某隧」地名即一國「鄉遂」之「遂」。國都必有道路通往「鄙」、「野」地區之「遂」，本文認為「鄉遂」之「遂」取義應與道路相關，即沿此道路及其延伸支道所經城邑及居民點，即屬該「遂」所轄。

A place name has a general definition and a narrow one. The general definition is the one whose range is wide and includes many cities and residencies, which contain the narrow-defined places with the same names. There are ten place names with sui, which can be found in the areas of bi and ye. This study states the sui means the xiang sui in a country.Each country had a road to the area of bi and ye. Therefore, this study regards the meaning of sui is related to road names. Along the road and its bypass through the cities and the residencies belonged to the area of sui.
