Writing a memorial article about several senior scholars who passed away in 2022 has always been occurring to me, partly for personal reasons, and partly also for reasons from past workplace connections. The Public Television Service (PTS) in Taiwan, which I work for, was in preparation since 1990 and started broadcast in 1998. This memorial article is dedicated to the pioneering scholars and the fragmented stories of their fading away from the founding years of PTS. In other words, this article is a personal note on topics of PTS. The focus is on three scholars who passed away in 2022: Chuen-Fa Chuang (1952-2022), Jia-Ching Pan (1935-2022), and Thomas C. Lee (1925-2022). They were from the academic backgrounds of either journalism or economics. The article attempts to delineate the past political environment that they were in and their reform proposals that an ideal PTS should speak from within the social context.
