宋代是中國科舉考試制度完備並對後代影響深遠的關鍵時期，學界的研究成果極為豐碩，更引發是否造成社會流動的激烈討論。不過，到目前為止，學界仍側重從朝廷的角度，探討政策執行如何影響資源的分配；未見從地方社會的角度，探討不同地區的社會，對中央政策的因應及影響。本文藉由鎮江士人劉宰在所撰述鄉里人物傳記中，記錄當地士人、家族追求舉業功名的歷程，觀察當地社會仕途發展的樣態，並與明州地區的舉業發展，略作比較，以檢視區域環境的不同，影響士人家族乃至地方社會資源積累與發展的差異。

The Song Dynasty was the crucial period in which the civil service examination system was fully developed and highly influential. The debate about whether the examination system brought about social mobility has attracted the attention of historians. However, the social impacts caused by the civil service examination deserve further investigation. Until now, most scholars have analyzed the developments of the examination system from the perspective of central government, hardly recognizing the responses of local society to the examination policies. This article researches the history of Zhenjiang, which was located near the northern border of Southern Song territory and has failed to attract the attention of historians. Mostly relying on the writings Liu Zai, I explore the methods by which the local elite in Zhenjiang pursued examination degrees and official careers. To reveal how regional resources influenced the choices of local elite, this article further compares the history of Zhenjiang with Mingzhou. Being the economic center of the Song, the Mingzhou elite enjoyed abundant academic resources which considerably benefited them in examination competition. Through its analyses, this study aims to reveal the relationship between local resources and examination participation.
