宜蘭礁溪協天廟始建於清嘉慶九年，建廟迄今已有兩百餘年，歷史 悠久，為北臺灣關公信仰重要的廟宇之一。 民國九十七年十二月六日至十日，協天廟舉辦了為期五日之「護 國祈安五朝圓醮大典」，該次活動為礁溪地區重要且盛大的宗教盛事， 筆者藉由實地的參與觀察及記錄，資以體驗礁溪在地文化的活力暨生命 力。再者，從建醮活動–立壇柱、豎燈篙、齋醮科儀、陣頭遶境、施放 水燈、賑濟大普等儀典內容，發掘豐富多元的醮典儀節和宗教禁忌，對 於研究礁溪在地民俗文化者來說，實為相當珍貴的田野紀實。 五朝圓醮的舉辦，完美的將宗教信仰、地方民俗、傳統藝術、文化 教育等有形暨無形文化資產作所結合，其所呈顯於眾人眼前的，是一個 完整且具有系統統合的民俗活動。更甚者，透過文化的承傳，資以建構 一個更趨完整的歷史價值與文化脈絡。

Yilan Chiao Shi Xie Tien Temple was established in Ching dynasty (1805), is one of the important Kuan Saint (gods) temple in North of Taiwan. From Dec. 6 to 10, 2008, the Temple celebrated a five days ceremony pray for peace and safe of the country ; this activity is considered as the most important religion celebration for the Chiao Xie area. Through participate the whole ceremony, the author pay attention on the local culture life and power and appreciated it as the focus of the investigation. Besides, all the rites process and religious taboos, are precious resources of filed work investigation. The five days ceremony is a systematic activity, unite perfectly the religion, folklore, traditional art, education and well of culture at one time. Furthermore, according to the celebration, the culture transmission will have more completely value and clearly historict.
