乾隆年間具軍工匠身份的漢人，進入南投山區開採木材，於是南 投境內遂出現軍功寮地名。但在這樣的背景下，漢人也透過替番墾荒、 拒繳稅、偽造文書等途徑，使得南投社土地逐漸流失。而政府亦間接承 認漢人入墾事實。乾隆末期的屯丁制，雖派撥養贍地，但成效不果，使 得番人還是得招墾漢人。道光以後，南投社隨中部遷徙至埔里地區，並 且平均受分土地，惟日後或許因經營不善，或其他原因使得土地出售他 社，其詳細內容尚待發現更新史料才能說明。至於原居地，漢人腳步再 度延伸到樟林溪，使得南投社社域亦日漸縮小。此外，貓羅溪和平林溪 亦因土地狀況不同，使得契約形式也不一。而環境較差的平林溪一帶， 以及遷徙後的耕墾，皆出現南投社共有土地的狀況，這很有可能說明族 人必須團結才得以應付惡劣的環境，因此土地私有化的情形，也仍必須 視各地情況而定。

In Ｑing dynasty under Emperor Ch'ien–lung's（乾隆） rule, Jiun gung jiang（軍工匠）（workers who enter forests and fell trees for manufacturing warships）enter Nantou's mountains. Afterward there appeared a place which named Jiun gung liau（軍功寮）in Nantou. And under the background, Chinese transfer land rights to their hands by some ways such as reclaiming for aborigine, rejecting to pay taxes and faking diplomas. Furthermore, the government indirectly acknowledged the facts that Chinese had cultivated the aborigine's land. In Ch'ien–lung's last phases, although Qing government carried out Tuen ding jr（屯丁制）（a system of consolidating security between Chinese and aborigines）to allot Yang shan di（養贍 地）（Qing government prepared this for defending aborigines to ensure their lives）to Nantou she（南投社）, it was not effective, consequently the aborigines still recruited Chinese cultivating for them. Until Daoguang's（道光）years, Nantou she（社）followed plain tribes of middle Taiwan migrating to Puli（埔里）basin and were allotted some lands. However, it was probably because of ineffective management or other reasons, they selled their lands to other tribes. However, there is no more new source to make a thorough inquiry. On the original location, as the Chinese more and more moved to Jang lin river（樟林溪）, Nantou she's（南 投社）territory was reducted. Accordingly, different soil along Mau luo river（貓羅溪）and Ping lin river（平林溪）will result in the discrepancy of both contracts' styles. Moreover, reclaiming tough environment of Ping lin river and Puli basin suggest the pattern of communion of land . This possibly illustrate why aborigines must unite to resist tough environment. And therefore before ascertaining whether the land was privatization or not, we should survey the local circumstances.
