This article proposes a holistic view for writing the big history of Taiwan. In order to write a comprehensive history of Taiwan, TS'AO Yung-ho and CHANG Kwang-chih (KC Chang) have suggested using land as the subject of history, and including the history of Taiwan's Indigenous Peoples, particularly the deep history (prehistory). This approach can help avoid the bias that can arise from writing history from the perspective of specific groups of people. The author of this article uses archaeological data to reconstruct the historical trajectory and social developments from prehistory to the early historical period in the plain and hill areas of Yunlin and Chiayi. The author pays special attention to the relationship between archaeological data and the Favorlang, a group of Plain Indigenous People in the Dutch period, and reconsiders the Ten Stockades of YAN Shiqi (Pedro China) in early historical Taiwan.
