礪社為日治時期屏東地區第一個古典詩社，創立於大正6年（1917 年）8月。在尤養齋的主持下，礪社諸人致力漢學，擊鉢吟詠往來無 間，詩社活動無異於本島其他古典詩社。尤養齋去世後，詩社歷經社員 內訌、幹部改選和另立門戶等陣痛，由具有濃厚社會思想的蘇維吾和黃 石輝等人掌握主導權，開始大力鼓吹革新文明教育，引來統治者不懌， 被視為左派社會運動的協力團體，終以社員醜聞打擊、刊物內容爭議和 違背社會風紀等理由，遭到當局強行解散，成為本島騷壇絕無僅有的例 子。

Whetstone Club was the first classical poetry club in Pingtung during the Japanese colonial period, which was established in August, 1917. With the presiding of You Yang-Zhai, the poets joining the club dedicated themselves to the study of Sinology. Like other classical poetry clubs, reciting activities had been constantly held. Since the passing of You, the club had undergone internal clashes, re-election of cadre members, and separation. As Su WeiWu and Huang Shi-Hui, having strongly been influenced by socialism, predominated the club, they advocated the renovation of education. Such action provoked the ruler, leading them to be seen as collaborating with Leftists. Therefore, the authorities forcefully dismissed the club for such reasons as scandals of members, controversial content of its publications, infringement on social order, and so on, making it the sole poetry club in Taiwan ended this way.
