「做功德」（亦稱「做功果」）是臺灣民間慣行之喪事流程中的重 要環節，亦為臺灣喪葬儀節中源遠流長的傳統之一。根據前人文獻的記 載，臺灣人慣聘僧（僧侶）道（道士）前來主持喪葬拔渡法事，但依實 地的田野調查所見，尚有一種介於僧侶和道士之間，並自稱為「釋教」 的職業性質民間宗教從業者，長期主導了普羅百姓的人生濟渡大事。 釋教係以佛教為主體，另兼容道教與民間信仰，是一支頗具自我特 色的教團組織，雖然今日已有不少析論釋教之專著出現，但所涉及的層 面仍各有其侷限性。尤其是中部地區 （即臺中市、彰化縣、南投縣） 向來為各界調查時甚少關注之區塊，有關當地釋教喪葬拔渡法事的現 況，歷來研究者大多無所觸及，令人頗感遺憾。 有鑑於上述學界的不足之處，更為了日後臺灣釋教研究工作的完 整建構，故本文將以中部地區為觀察場域，採用實地田野調查的方式， 選定臺中市南屯區田心里賴府一朝功德為研究案例，詳實記述整場法事 的科儀流程。為顧及論述之全面性，本文將先就賴府一朝功德的啟建緣 由、主持釋教壇、壇場佈置、參與人員進行略述，其次，再針對法事中 各項科儀的意義、過程逐一說明。希冀透過本文的介紹，能讓人們進一 步瞭解閩南釋教系統在中部地區的活動現況，亦期盼藉此有助於臺灣釋 教相關研究的發展，使這個活躍在鄉野的民間教派，可以更受各界關心 和重視。

“Zhuo-Gong-De”（Salvation for the dead to go to heaven）, one traditional act in Taiwan funeral customs, plays an important role in Taiwan folk funeral procedure. According to written records, monks and Taoist masters lead the funeral ceremonies, however, there have been Shi-sect masters, either monks nor Taoist masters, leading funeral ceremonies for centuries in Taiwan. Shi-sect is mainly composed of Buddhism, and partially of Taoism and folk belief and it is a particular religion group. Though there are some books on this sect, they still don’t get into it much. There are few field researches practiced in Middle Taiwan, including Taichung City, Changhua County and Nantou County, and it is a pity that there is no research on Shi-sect funeral practices in Middle Taiwan. This research chooses Middle Taiwan as study field in order to enrich the study in Taiwan Shi-sect. The study case of this research is the one-daysalvation-ceremony of Lai family in Tian-Sin Village in Nantun District in Taichung City. This study contains the motivation to hold the ceremony, the Shi-sect master and his altar, the settings, the staff of the ceremony, and meanings of the rituals. This study is to introduce Shi-sect in Middle Taiwan and to promote Taiwan Shi-sect study. We hope there will be more attention on this folk sect.
