本文是從歷史研究面向來探討冰河時期已存在這個島嶼的孓遺植物-臺 灣海棗（俗稱槺榔），在這近三百餘年間所發生的變遷。 探討內容包括：從清領至日治期間的史料記載及19世紀中後期來臺西 方人士所留下的文字及影像記錄來呈現過去曾有的風貌；再透過地名追索 來回顧槺榔在臺灣的分佈，及其與漢人先民的連結；最後透過田野訪查， 記錄下近世與槺榔有關的傳統產業與民俗文化。

The article is on the dimension to probe the changes in the past three hundred years of the Taiwan Island Plant in Glaciers period and Phoenix formosana Mas. as known (Commonly known as Taiwan date palm) .
