「歌仔戲」是發源於臺灣的劇種，也是最具本土風格的民間戲曲，但 事實上歌仔戲除了與宗教信仰、廟宇相互緊扣的演出模式，以及近年來常 見的公演活動外，在臺灣部分地區，歌仔戲有時也會出現於喪事。雖然這 對歌仔戲團而言是個存在已久的「另類」表演舞臺，不過顧及一般人對喪 事有所忌諱的民風，故罕有戲班會主動提及，更因喪事屬私人追悼場合， 並非對外開放的觀賞場域，自然不受民眾關注，更遑論有人研究了，所以 喪事遂成為歌仔戲最神秘的表演時機。而喪事給人的印象不外乎哀戚悲 慟、莊嚴肅穆，在這樣的氛圍下安排原本以營造熱鬧效果為主的歌仔戲演 出，是否屬恰當之舉？又喪家的孝眷人等為何願意花錢聘請戲班在喪事串 場，究竟其用意何在？筆者經過長期的走訪和調查，發現這種特殊地表演 方式在臺灣各地自成一套「小傳統」的文化體系，每個體系自由操作，自 由運行，當然也隨著時代流轉而自生自滅。縱觀這類表演型態，首推目前 仍流傳在宜蘭縣和新北市貢寮區、雙溪區的「司公戲」最具特色，其影響 層面也最深入，更是最有獨樹一幟的展演文化。為揭開這種神秘表演的面 紗，本文將針對臺灣現存之喪事演戲模式逐一說明，再深入介紹流傳在宜 蘭縣和新北市貢寮區、雙溪區的「司公戲」，並詳實記述一場「司公戲」 的演出過程，最後析論「司公戲」為喪事提供了哪些功能？以及其瀕臨絕 跡之因為何？希望藉此能為這特殊地戲曲展演方式留下些許記錄。

"Ge zai xi"（Taiwanese folk opera）is the drama originated in Taiwan only, which has become the most representational folk drama. In fact, "ge zai xi" involves not only in religious and temple shows, and performs in public in recent years but also performed in the funeral sometimes in some areas of Taiwan. Although it's an alternative stage for "Ge zai xi" for a long time, take taboo of funeral in account for most people, it was rarely mentioned by theatrical company, let alone funeral was a private mourning setting, not a public viewing show. It didn't draw public attention, not to mention it was well studied. That is why funeral has become the most mysterious performing timing for "ge zai xi". The impression of funeral ceremony is nothing more than sorrow and solemn. Whether it is appropriate to perform bustling "ge zai xi" under this condition? And why family of the deceased are willing to spend money hiring the theatrical company to perform during the funeral ceremony. What's their purpose? After a long-term visit and I investigation, researcher found this kind of particular performance has become a cultural system of "small tradition" around Taiwan. Each system operates and runs freely, and has its life cycle with time. Take a broad view of this performance, "shi-gong-xi" spread in Yilan County, Gongliao and Shuangxi District, New Taipei City are the most characteristic, infl uential, and distinctive performance culture. In order to unveil this mysterious performance, the article described the existing acting in funeral individually, introduced "shi-gong-xi" spread in Yilan County, Gongliao and Shuangxi District, New Taipei City, documented the performance process of a "shi-gongxi". Finally is the discussion of the functions of "shi-gong-xi" for funeral as well as the reasons for nearly vanished. Hoping this article recorded some document for this particular traditional opera.
