符咒,不論在年中行事、通過禮儀,或是民間信仰,都在時空間上貼近 於臺灣漢人的生活中。而在日治時期就詳有記錄的「符師」,臺灣是最早以 使用符咒為專門的巫者。 在文獻資料上,許多關於符師的研究主要以日人的調查報告書或專書為 多,不過在貼近符師的實際日常生活樣態上仍不夠具體。而《臺灣日日新報》 著實提供了ㄧ個寶貴的參考資料。 本文欲由日治時期為主,追求符師的原型形態和名稱變遷, 同時以《臺 灣日日新報》為主要分析場域,探析現今符師被污名化的歷史根據,以探究 符師之社會上功能與處境。
