本文考察西螺福興宮「莫不尊親」匾額的媽祖救難傳說為起點，還原傳 說背景明治 28 年（1895）乙未抗日西螺街戰役，挖掘潛藏於傳說的真實歷 史性情節，再追隨西螺街抗日領導人廖景琛為焦點，揭開張廖宗族到西螺地 方社會「結構性失憶」完整呈現。 傳說中將我群抽換義軍，導致參戰人士遁名匿跡，卻可大肆表面宣揚媽 祖拯救街民的靈驗奇蹟，實體宣洩殖民統治的不滿情緒。簡言之，日治時期 臺灣總督府對抗日分子及其地方的壓制與監視之社會本相，展演和抒發於 「莫不尊親」匾額媽祖傳說的社會表相。 直至今日，傳說流轉百年的效應，如同寫作宗旨，並非膜拜媽祖的宗教 靈力，試圖回到宗教本質與歷史學的人文關懷，呼籲世人警惕戰爭的殘酷和 無情。

The Legend of Mazu (Anti-Japanse from Yiwei War) and The Structural Amnesia -- From The Plaque "Mo-Bu-Tsun-Chin" (Every One Respects Mazu)

乙未之役；歸順；雲林；張廖；廖景琛

This context starts to talk about the legend of Mazu Rescue and the plaque "Mo-Bu-Tsun-Chin" (every one respects Mazu). Second；to find out the real situation behind legend. Third；focus on Liao Gin-Tsen；the leader of AntiJapanese of Hsilo Street；to find out the "structural amnesia" of Chang-Liao Family and all the society of Hsilo. In the legend；the "Anti-Japanese Army" was replaced to "Volunteers Army". Although the soldiers were anonymous；but they could vent their fury through the miracle stories of Mazu rescue. On the surface；Hsilo people made a plaque to preach miracles of Mazu. Actually；it expressed the oppression and the surveillance from Japan Goverment forward to Anti-Japanese people and Hsilo people in the Japanese Colonial Period. So far；the legend is narrated for hundred years. However；the purpose of this context is not the magic power of Mazu. The author wants to research the religious essence；the human care；and the most important thing: "war is cruel and ruthless".
