古老的創世神話中訴說著生命的源初，部落內部因位階（ranking）而 產生的差異性，如何透過公共藝術傳達訊息？高雄市茂林區魯凱族下三社 人的社區藝術可分為四大主題：1. 婚姻交換物、2. 起源神話、3. 社會生活 圖像、4. 紫蝶幽谷。這些文化母題的重複出現，再現了何種文化價值？對 今日族人的凝聚力有何作用？當代文化建構是否有損其「本真性」 （authenticity）？均為本文所欲探討的面向。 本民族誌研究顯示，地方社會內含平衡機制，過濾外來力量，重新形 塑在地象徵秩序。透過這些社區藝術的展現，在地藝術工作者也重新回過 頭認識自己文化的傳統知識，並結合當代新的技術與媒材，重現過去族人 的生命儀禮、信仰體系、生活風貌及自然生態。

Ancestry myths describe life origins. Furthermore, the difference of ranking expresses messages through public arts. Sha-San-She Rukai in Maolin district, Kaohsiung, has four themes of community arts: 1. Marriage exchanged objects, 2. Origin myths, 3. Social life images, 4. Valley of purple crow butterflies. This article explores what kind of cultural values the repeat appearance of these cultural motifs represents, what the impact on the concentration of the ethnic members in the present, and whether contemporary cultural construction is harmful to their authenticity. This ethnographic study shows that a local society contains a balance mechanism filtering outcome forces and reshaping local symbolic order. By means of the presentation of these community arts, the local artists also turn themselves back to understand their traditional knowledge, and combine contemporary new techniques and materials to represent the past life cycle rituals, belief systems, life features, and natural ecosystem.
