新生訓導處位於臺東縣綠島鄉，隸屬臺灣省保安司令部，1951 年 5 月 17 日政府將原關押於內湖新生總隊及臺灣軍人監獄政治犯約一千人移監 至新生訓導處接受感訓教育，從此以後，一直到 1965 年止，新生訓導處成 為全臺灣關押政治犯最多的地方。 1953 年 4 月新生訓導處發生再叛亂案，官方檔案稱為｢陳華等叛亂案｣， 共有陳華等 29 名涉案，其中陳華等 14 名政治犯被判處死刑。筆者以本案 案首，最具代表性人物陳華作為個案研究，探討陳華如何從新生訓導處的 頑劣新生，經由保安處及軍法處偵訊審判之後，變為意圖以非法之方法顛 覆政府的死刑犯，希望有助於釐清整個案件的真相。 為了瞭解陳華涉案始末，筆者以檔案管理局保存的陳華相關檔案史料 為主，依時間先後排比，輔以其他涉案或關押新生訓導處政治犯口述訪談 紀錄或出版品相互印證，建構陳華被偵訊、審判過程與釐清被判死刑原因。

The New Life Correction Center was located in Ludao Township, Taitung County, and affiliated to the Taiwan Provincial Security Command. On May 17, the government transferred about 1,000 political prisoners who were detained in the Neihu New Life Corps and Taiwan Military Prison to the New Life Correction Center for Reform and Re-education. From then on, the New Life Correction Center became the place where had the most political prisoners in Taiwan until 1965. "Chen Hua and other rebellions" happended in 1953, In this case, there were Chen Hua and other 29 people involved in, and 14 of them including Chen Hua and Wu Sheng-da were sentenced to death. The researcher takes the first case of the Green Island massacre also the most representative person, Chen Hua as the case study to explore how Chen Hua from a freshman of the New Life Correction Center became a death row who intended to subvert the government illegally after the investigation and trial by Military Law Department. Hoping through this reach can help to clarify the truth of the entire case. In order to understand Chen Hua’s involvement in the case comprehensively, the researcher mainly focuses on the historical records which arranges in chronological order of Chen Hua’s archives kept by the Archives Administration, and also supplements by other political prisoners’ informations involved in this case or in the imprisonment of the New Life Correction Center, such as the interview records or the publications are mutually corroborating, to construct Chen Hua’s investigation and trial process, and to clarify the reasons for his death sentence.
