本文以中國書法、繪畫兩種視覺藝術的發展流程做為背景，就其顯示的作用標的和呈現型態加以考察，一方面期能釐清所謂「書畫同源」的界義，一方面期能闡發書畫異體的實象，庶幾對中國書．畫的內涵功能與外表形式在構成上所產生的糾結和劃割有較為實際的詮解角度出現。同時，對其受時代影響的未來之開拓走向，也提出了筆者深沉的關切。 為此，筆者將中國書．畫的發展縱線，自遠古迄於近代，歸納成（一）同質同構；（二）同質類構；（三）同質異構；（四）類質異構；（五）異質異構；（六）異質類構，六個不等的流變模式，依據這六種模式的銜遞關係，指出其同異之間的落差量度和實況。並且提出了未來可能模式的擬測。 在輔助文字說明的不足方面，筆者選取了九組有關的圖片，每組數量不一，但皆係為配合印證的需要而設，尤其希望讀者能注意及之。

This thesis, with a background in the developing process of the twin visual arts, i.e., Chinese calligraphy and painting, is to survey both its overt functional purpose and presenting forms that, while making clear the definition with regard to so-called ‘the identical origin of calligraphy and painting,’ we may, at the same time, try to throw lights on the phenomenon of differentiating painting from calligraphy, giving in so doing, a more realistic perspective for interpreting the entanglement as well as distinction seen in structures caused by the intrinsic function and outer form of the same. The author also here suggests his deep concern towards the future prospect with which he is so much caring about. For this, the author categorizes in according to history from ancient to recent thimes the developing line of Chinese calligraphy/painting into 6 distinct evolving modes, i.e., 1.1. Identical quality and structure; 2. Identical quality and similar structure; 3. Identical quality and different structure; 4. similar quality and different structure; 5. different quality and structure; 6. different quality and similar structure. Based on the overlapping relationship in these 6 modes, he is further to point out the disparate quantity and real situations between what is same and what not. And, along with this, also a simulative speculation upon a potential mode coming in the future. In order to compensate for any possible insufficiency in his statement, the author provides with the article 9 sets of related diagrams after careful selection. They are different in number so as to meet a matching demonstration. I wish my readers could kindly pay their attention to this deliberation.
