From generation to generation, there exists many different viewpoints about the aristocratic succession of two Chou dynasty, namely "Zhan-Mu System(昭穆制度)." The mainstream idea considers fathers and sons belong to the different zhau-mu, and borthers belong to the same Zhau-Mu. However, another regards the succession of brothers as the different Zhau-Mu by the viewpoint of "Chez Zi Yi Li."(臣子一例 treating ministers as sons in patriarchal system) This article researches the documents of pre-Chin and Han dynasty that re-present the genealogy of the aristocracy of Chou dynasty and finds that there is a regular order in their name of Zhau-Mu, namely that hte order of succession depends on one Zhau and then one Mu and there is no direct relationship between positions. Tha t proves the viewpoint of "Chez Zi Yi Li" and manifests the question that the emperoe Zhau of west Chou belongs to Mu and the emperor Mu belong to Zhau. The designation should be the same with Zhau-Mu. That is the common rule of two Chou dynastics.
