This essay discusses famous poet Tu Fu's attitude towards life and artstic style revealed from two of his poems that used animals as the theme. The first poem "Paint an eagle" is Tu Fu's earlier work and the 2nd poem "the little goose in front of the canoe" was completed near the end of his life. The introduction provides background information about. It starts out with a discussion of the contemporary artist philosophy during Tu Fu's time - the Tong Dynasty. After that, a summary of Tu Fu's difficult life and the mystery of his death are discussed. Then Tu Fu's life time works of poetry is divided into 4 periods.
