1980年代初,席慕蓉現身詩壇,以瞬間情動凝塑永恆思念的抒情詩,深獲讀者喜愛。儘管席詩傳播廣遠,但耽於一味的傾訴,不免被視為局限。席慕蓉詩風的突破,要待1989年回返蒙古原鄉,經歷不斷尋索後才次第展開,大量的新事物、新體驗,使她的詩筆包容了許多語意連貫的敘事句。二十一世紀初寫成的「英雄組曲」敘事詩三篇,更是嶄新的創作成果。席慕蓉為何敘事?詳查其心路歷程,實與擔負蒙古民族發聲的使命有關,而其詩藝亦因此得以超越。
英文摘要
In the early 80th, Xi Mu-Rong appeared in Taiwan poetry circle with her lyrical poems about the rapture of love and its eternal longing. Although widely accepted, her works were considered narrow in theme. Her style breakthrough came after 1989 when she made a trip back to her motherland, Mongolia. To express her new experiences there, it seemed necessary for her to acquire a new writing strategy, and eventually, in early 21st century, she completed three poems entitled Suite of Heroic Ballads in a narrative style. What was the reason behind Xi's turn to narration? Looking back, her style change can be attributed to her calling to advocate, and to tell the stories of, her native land. As it developed, she reached a new peak of her artistic career.
